Identifying Patterns

Promotional Cycles

  • Seasonal clearances

Price Matching

When competitor lines move together, retailers may be:

  • Matching each other
  • Responding to market leader

Price Wars

Rapid back-and-forth price cuts between retailers.

Using History for Decisions

Best Time to Match

  • Match after competitor promotions end
  • Avoid matching temporary flash sales

Avoid Price Wars

  • If competitors frequently undercut, consider:
    • Competing on value, not price
    • Focusing on different customer segments

Seasonal Planning

  • Use year-over-year data (Enterprise plans)
  • Prepare for predictable pricing cycles

History Retention

  • Starter: 30 days
  • Growth: 90 days
  • Professional: 365 days
